With the 2026 May Day holiday just around the corner, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism reminds all travelers:

I. Plan your itinerary carefully. Before traveling, check the weather conditions along your route and at your destination; familiarize yourself in advance with the holiday opening hours of tourist attractions and their ticket‑reservation policies; pack essential items and any medications you may need; choose an appropriate mode of transportation; and plan your itinerary and travel schedule carefully. Select a licensed travel agency, sign a standardized travel contract, and exercise caution when evaluating tour packages priced significantly below market rates to avoid compromising service quality. Refrain from visiting undeveloped or unregulated areas that lack adequate safety measures. Stay informed about the security situation and relevant advisories for your outbound travel destination, and avoid high‑risk regions.

II. Enhance Safety Awareness. Before setting out on a self‑driven trip, have your vehicle thoroughly inspected and always obey traffic laws—avoid overloading passengers or cargo, and never drive after drinking. When traveling by car or public transportation, be sure to wear your seat belt at all times. While aboard sightseeing cruise boats, wear a life jacket as required. Exercise caution when participating in high‑risk activities such as those involving heights, high speeds, water, diving, or adventure sports; if you choose to take part, familiarize yourself with potential risks beforehand, strictly follow safety guidelines, heed the instructions of staff, and refrain from any behavior that could endanger yourself or others.

III. Pay attention to flood and fire prevention. Pay close attention to weather, traffic, and other warning advisories, and avoid taking unnecessary risks. When traveling in mountainous or river‑valley areas, be alert to hazards such as landslides, rockfalls, and debris flows, and familiarize yourself with emergency evacuation procedures. Upon checking into a hotel, locate the fire‑safety evacuation routes, refrain from smoking while lying on sofas or beds, and observe electrical safety precautions. During outdoor activities, take fire‑prevention and disaster‑avoidance measures; strictly adhere to all forest‑fire‑prevention regulations, and do not smoke, barbecue, or use open flames in areas where flammable materials are concentrated or where fire‑safety warnings are posted.

IV. Travel in a civilized and environmentally friendly manner. Observe laws and regulations, as well as public order and good morals. When visiting and touring, practice civility and courtesy, queue up voluntarily, and proceed in an orderly manner; refrain from loud talking, crowding, or jostling. Protect the public environment and cultural relics and historic sites by not littering and avoiding unauthorized carving or graffiti in scenic areas. When participating in festivals and celebrations, respect local customs and traditions, and behave with civility and propriety, adhering to rules and regulations. Dine responsibly, refuse food waste, and support the “Clean Plate Campaign,” promoting low‑carbon, resource‑saving practices and eco‑friendly travel.
