Recently, the Central Social Work Department convened a national conference on comprehensively strengthening Party self‑discipline and conducting cautionary education for national industry associations and chambers of commerce. The meeting systematically reviewed the work carried out in 2025 to ensure strict Party governance within these organizations, outlined key tasks for 2026, and made arrangements for relevant special initiatives. Liu Zheng, Deputy Minister of the Central Social Work Department and Secretary of the Party Committee of national industry associations and chambers of commerce, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Relevant officials from the Discipline Inspection and Supervision Group of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission stationed at the Central Social Work Department also attended and put forward specific requirements for the work.

The meeting emphasized the need to thoroughly study and implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech at the Fifth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, as well as the spirit of the session itself. It called for a deep understanding of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s strategic plans for comprehensively strengthening Party self‑discipline in the inaugural year of the 15th Five‑Year Plan, a profound appreciation of the decisive significance of the “two establishments,” and resolute commitment to the “two safeguards.” Furthermore, it urged the strengthening of political responsibility and the advancement, with higher standards and more concrete measures, of all efforts to ensure comprehensive Party self‑discipline across national industry associations and chambers of commerce.

The meeting noted that since the establishment of the Central Social Work Department, it has worked in concert with the resident discipline inspection and supervision team, aligning their efforts and jointly addressing key issues to advance the integrated approach to preventing corruption. Together, they have processed over 2,900 leads related to national industry associations and chambers of commerce, initiated investigations into more than 50 individuals, conducted talks and inquiries with over 170 persons, handled seven cases involving detention, and applied the “four forms” of disciplinary action to educate, discipline, and manage more than 160 individuals, thereby driving the comprehensive and rigorous governance of Party conduct and integrity within these organizations to an ever-deeper level.

The meeting called for a precise understanding of the current situation and tasks facing national industry associations and chambers of commerce in the comprehensive and strict governance of the Party, and for unwaveringly integrating the Party’s leadership and strengthened Party building into every aspect and stage of their operations. It emphasized upholding the Party’s political development as the overarching principle, further enhancing the political guiding role of Party organizations, continuously consolidating ideological foundations, strengthening grassroots work, improving management systems, and deepening efforts to foster sound conduct, enforce discipline, and combat corruption. The meeting also urged the earnest organization of study and education on establishing and practicing a correct view of official achievements to ensure tangible results. Focusing on prominent problems, targeted measures must be taken to resolutely address all kinds of irregularities. Finally, continuous efforts should be made to standardize, legalize, and institutionalize disciplinary inspection work, thereby forging a team of inspectors who are politically strong, capable, of impeccable conduct, and incorruptible.

At the meeting, typical cases of violations by national industry associations and chambers of commerce—identified through routine supervision and inspection as well as during巡视—were reported. The secretaries of the respective joint Party committees (and the Party committees of directly affiliated associations) signed the “2026 Responsibility Letter on Comprehensively Strengthening Party Governance for National Industry Associations and Chambers of Commerce.” Relevant officials from the Discipline Inspection and Supervision Group of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission stationed at the Central Social Work Department, along with comrades from the Party committees and discipline inspection commissions of national industry associations and chambers of commerce, and heads of their Party organizations, attended the meeting.
