On January 15, John Jakobsen, Chief Strategy Development Officer of Merlin Group, visited the Shenzhen LEGOLAND® Resort construction site to inspect the latest progress of the project.

On January 15, 2025, John Jakobsen, Chief Strategy Development Officer of Merlin Group, visited the Shenzhen LEGOLAND® Resort construction site for an on-site inspection and exchange on its latest progress. Relevant officials from the Dapeng New District Management Committee also participated.

John Jakobsen shared: “Looking back at the past year, the Shenzhen LEGOLAND® Resort is steadily progressing, brick by brick, striving to create a safe, high-quality, creative, and imaginative resort experience for everyone.

Pleasingly, the major themed areas in the theme park are about to complete their civil construction. Among them, the most iconic themed area—"LEGOLAND Imagination World"—has made positive progress. Its main building, the largest single building in the theme park, successfully completed the steel structure pipe truss hoisting, an important engineering milestone, at the end of November 2024, and has now smoothly entered the capping stage. Looking forward to 2025, the construction of the Shenzhen LEGOLAND® Resort will enter an accelerated phase, continuing to add bricks and tiles to the "fun".

As the first international parent-child family entertainment theme park resort in the Greater Bay Area, the Shenzhen LEGOLAND® Resort has always attracted much attention. This project is a LEGO-themed park and hotel integrated resort specially designed for families with children aged 2-12, exclusively operated by Merlin Entertainment Group, and is the first international IP parent-child family entertainment theme park resort in the Greater Bay Area.

Located in Dapeng New District, covering an area of approximately 580,000 square meters, the completed Shenzhen LEGOLAND® Resort will feature one LEGOLAND® theme park, one LEGOLAND® Water Park, and three themed hotels.

The LEGOLAND® theme park offers over 100 interactive rides, shows, and attractions, allowing children and parents to interact and play together, enjoying high-quality edutainment parent-child time.

Not only is the park itself progressing in an orderly manner, but thanks to the strong support of the government, the surrounding transportation and infrastructure of the Shenzhen LEGOLAND® Resort have also made positive progress. Relevant officials from Dapeng New District stated: “The new large area where the Shenzhen LEGOLAND® Resort is located has been included in the key construction area of Dapeng New District. To further improve the supporting facilities around the project, Dapeng New District is comprehensively promoting the construction of more than 20 supporting projects, including hotels, transportation, municipal works, parks, and intercity rail, with a total investment of 300 billion yuan.

Currently, the main line of Pingxi Road serving LEGOLAND® has been completed, the main structure of the Xinda parking lot of the "Shanhai Express" Shenzhen-Huizhou Intercity Dapeng branch line, starting from Longcheng Station in Longgang District and ending at Xinda Station in Dapeng New District, has been capped, and the municipal roads within the area have been opened to traffic. The Pengnan 110KV substation has completed its exterior and equipment installation, and supporting facilities such as the Xinda passenger transport hub and the reconstruction project of the Xinda sea dike have been successively started. In the future, Dapeng New District will continue to adhere to the development concept of innovation, coordination, green, openness, and sharing, further accelerate the construction of supporting infrastructure around the LEGOLAND® project, provide high-quality services, create a good development environment, and continue to support the construction of the Shenzhen LEGOLAND® Resort project.”
