The Qingdao Oriental Eden project is Asia's first world-class comprehensive cultural and tourism project using "Eden" as its ecological IP and "water" as its theme. It aims to create a new world water theme park that "coexists with water." The project is located south of Huojue Road in the Qingdao High-tech Zone of Shandong Province, backed by the Jinmao Sino-European International City, facing Jiaozhou Bay. It covers a total area of 1200 mu, with a core area of approximately 400 mu, and a planned total construction area of 47,000 square meters. square meters. 平方米。

The project site is a large area of reclaimed land, originally used for salt production and later for shrimp farming, resulting in ecological damage. Drawing on the successful experience of the Eden Project in Cornwall, which was built on the site of a former clay pit, this project explores the use of multiple sustainable development strategies, including bio-communities, energy utilization, and waste management, to restore the site and reconnect it with the surrounding water system. This aims to achieve the rebirth of the natural environment and the regeneration of the community environment in a meaningful and interesting way.

The park is divided into five themed areas, including four themed pavilions, a large water park, a flower car parade, a night lake show, and five interactive amusement facilities, incorporating themes of water nurturing, water fun, water civilization, and water feedback. These carefully designed areas and facilities will provide visitors with a comprehensive and three-dimensional play experience.

The project uses "water" as its theme and aims to create a world-class "coexistence with water" new world water theme park. Inside the park, the four themed pavilions—Water Quality Zone, Water Extreme Zone, Storm Forest Zone, and Entrance Zone—each carry different functions and experiences. The Water Quality Zone will showcase water circulation, water ecology, and water conservation, allowing visitors to learn while playing; the Water Extreme Zone will simulate extreme water environments, allowing visitors to experience the forms and changes of water under different conditions; the Storm Forest Zone will create a mysterious and magnificent atmosphere with its unique reticulated shell structure and abundant vegetation; and the Entrance Zone will serve as a gathering and dispersal point for visitors, providing comfortable gathering and dispersal spaces and convenient service facilities.

In addition to the four themed pavilions, the Qingdao Oriental Eden project also plans a large water park and a night lake show. The water park will provide a variety of water entertainment facilities, allowing visitors to enjoy coolness and fun in the hot summer. The night lake show will present a visual and auditory feast for visitors through the perfect combination of lighting, music, and dance. In addition, there are many interactive experience projects in the park, such as high-tech water experiments and multimedia climate simulations, allowing visitors to fully experience the charm and magic of water while playing.

As the Asian version of the UK's Eden Project, Qingdao Oriental Eden Project inherits its ecological and environmental protection philosophy, while also incorporating Qingdao's unique marine cultural elements. It aims to showcase water experiments, water cycles, water ecology, and more through high-tech, multimedia, and immersive technologies, providing visitors with a comprehensive interactive experience.

The completion of the Qingdao Oriental Eden Project will fill the gap in large-scale eco-cultural tourism projects in Qingdao, becoming a "new window" for Qingdao's dialogue with the world. The project is expected to attract 1.5 to 2 million visitors annually, further promoting the high-quality development of Qingdao's cultural tourism industry.

Oriental Eden Project is jointly developed by China Jinmao Holdings and the UK's Eden Project. The construction plan, worth 150 million pounds, was announced as early as 2015, with an initial opening target of 2020. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was later delayed to 2023, and it has been over ten years to this day!

Currently, the facades of all major venues have been successfully completed, and outdoor landscaping and interior decoration are underway. It is expected to open in the second half of 2025.
