Hidden dangers of slide holes, causing tourist injuries

At present, the slide technology at home and abroad is relatively mature, but with the service life of the slide, it is inevitable that slide holes will appear, and gaps will appear at the joints of the slides, especially body slides (without the aid of sliding equipment). When the human body passes through the holes at high speed, small holes will cut the tourist's skin. With the aid of sliding equipment, the holes will also damage the equipment, reducing the service life of the equipment.

Preventive measures:

Careful daily morning inspection, timely filling of holes found; if found during operation, the slide with hidden dangers should be closed in time to prevent tourist injuries.

Insufficient smoothness of the waterline in the slide, causing tourist injuries

When tourists slide in a U-shaped slide, their bodies are escorted by the water flow, forming a waterline. Due to the different body shapes of tourists, the waterline has an upper limit. To ensure safety, water jets are added to some areas of the waterline to ensure continuous spraying to keep the slide wet and prevent damage to tourists' skin.

Tourists do not slide according to the guided posture, such as spreading their arms or turning their elbows outward when excited, causing their skin to contact areas outside the waterline, causing skin abrasions.

Preventive measures:

In the daily morning inspection, equipment maintenance personnel should check whether the water jets are working to prevent the increase of the friction coefficient, which may lead to tourist injuries.

On-site service personnel should strictly inform tourists of the experience posture to prevent arm spreading during sliding, causing abrasions.

Tourist bracelets, necklaces, and earrings fall off, causing injuries to tourists

Some tourists wear jade bracelets, earrings, necklaces and other ornaments to experience the project, and accidentally cause the jade bracelets to break and the earrings to fall off. Tiny fragments of jade bracelets will be intercepted in the water purification system, but some tourists do not inform the on-site service personnel after their bracelets break. Water purification takes time. If tourists enter the slide or water area at this time, it is easy to cause scratches; Earrings are also easy to be stepped on by other tourists and pierce their toes in the wave-making pool.

Preventive measures:

Clearly explain to tourists the seriousness of damaged bracelets and lost earrings, asking them to remove them before experiencing the activity. If some bracelets cannot be removed, the facility should have wrist guards available for protection. Make it clear that this is only for added protection, and tourists can choose whether or not to wear them; no responsibility is taken for the condition of the jade bracelets.

The facility should provide soapy water to help tourists remove their bracelets.

After tourists have finished the experience, ensure that the bracelets are undamaged before allowing the next group of tourists to proceed.

Injuries caused by climbing the slide in reverse.

The tall slides have fixed routes and personnel control, and tourists play in order. The children's water park has many short slides. When there are many tourists, children will also queue up to experience the slides multiple times. However, when there are few tourists, or if a child is playing alone, to save time, they may climb the slide in reverse after one ride. The slide is very smooth, and they will fall and injure their chins.

Preventive measures:

Young children must be accompanied by a parent, and parents should be informed of the precautions. The on-site signs are not suitable for children who have not yet reached the level of literacy.

This area should be cordoned off, and parents should only be allowed to supervise their children after being clearly informed. When there are many tourists, fixed posts should be set up for supervision.

Tourists diving, causing misjudgment by lifeguards

Some tourists have good diving skills and engage in diving in open waters, which may lead to misjudgment by lifeguards, causing complacency and hindering water rescue efforts.

Preventive measures:

Inform tourists that diving is not allowed. If the scenic area offers diving activities, guide tourists to the designated diving area.

Place signs in public areas prohibiting diving.

Using rafts, uneven loading, causing rafts to overturn, and tourists getting injured

For equipment that uses rafts for 4-6 people, uneven weight distribution among passengers can cause the raft to tilt and capsize during sliding, resulting in injuries.

Preventive measures:

For double rafts, it is generally recommended that the lighter person sits in the front and the heavier person in the back; a child should sit in front of an adult.

For multiple passengers on a raft, staff should assess the weight of the passengers and try to distribute them evenly, and inform them to maintain their posture during sliding.

Employees incorrectly assisting tourists in pushing rafts, causing rafts to get stuck

For high-platform raft slides, some staff are overly enthusiastic and push the raft into the slide as soon as the tourists get on, causing the raft to get stuck in the slide due to insufficient water flow at the rear. Rescue measures are then required.

Preventive measures:

Sliding conditions vary due to different passenger weights and raft air pressure. The slide's water reservoir acts as a regulator; lighter passengers have shorter water accumulation times, while heavier passengers have delays of 3-5 seconds. Once a certain level is reached, the raft will slide down, which is the safest condition. Do not interfere with the optimal sliding point.

When a raft gets stuck, the small water flow will escape from the bottom, lacking impact force. Other rafts can be used to block the water in the reservoir, and once the water level reaches a certain point, it can be released to create a strong current that pushes the stuck raft out.

If this method fails, safety measures such as using ropes to secure personnel should be taken, and manual assistance should be provided to help the raft slide out of the stuck area.

If a raft gets stuck, staff must inform tourists not to get off the raft, to maintain their posture, hold on to the handrails, and wait for rescue.

Using glassware and medicine storage bottles, breakage causing tourist injuries

The use of glassware in the park makes it difficult to detect residual glass shards after breakage, causing injuries to tourists' toes. In the summer heat, the park should stock heatstroke prevention medication such as Huoxiang Zhengqi Water. If staff dispose of or damage these items carelessly, it can easily cause harm to tourists.

Preventive measures:

The park should use qualified plastic and stainless steel products and provide medication in plastic bottles; strengthen staff safety education and conduct case analysis.

Children's water castle large bucket experience area, running and falling causing injuries

The large tipping bucket in the children's water park is very popular with children. Children gather under the bucket, waiting for the thrill of the water tipping, but this can cause them to run and dodge, leading to falls and collisions.

Preventive measures:

When planning this area, reasonable space should be planned to facilitate tourist evacuation.

This area should use plastic flooring to prevent secondary injuries from falls. If the water park uses a full-water system, the safety factor will be much higher; some water parks use shallow-water systems.

Simulated surfing machine platform, poor soft packaging processing of the edge of the work protection baffle, causing injuries

Staff should use a kneeling posture to hold the slide, releasing it after the tourist has a firm grip. The water will then carry the slide to the experience surface. The kneeling work surface is usually soft-padded, but if the padding is poor, the frame can injure the staff's knees.

Preventive measures:

Staff should avoid working in the gaps between areas A and B of the soft padding to prevent injury to their knees from the frame.

Poor handling of the foundation of landscape buildings, causing injuries

Due to the nature of water park activities, tourists are mostly barefoot and in swimwear. The park's landscape uses a lot of artificial stone and steel structures. Without the protection of shoes, toes are easily injured.

Preventive measures:

Buildings, pillars, and rocks should be rounded to minimize the chance of tourist injury.

Remind tourists to rinse with water to prevent skin diseases

Water park water quality management is very strict. To control water quality, disinfectants and algaecides are used. Relevant units conduct daily sampling, testing, and control to ensure that the water quality meets standards.

Tourists have different physiques and skin allergies, and water park experiences can cause skin problems.

Preventive measures:

The park should provide centralized washing areas and some temporary washing areas to allow tourists to clean their skin promptly.

Swimsuits have different frictional forces with slides, causing tourists to get stuck in the slides

Tourists wear various swimsuits. Men usually wear swim trunks, women usually wear one-piece swimsuits, and tourists who are afraid of the sun will wear full body protection. Different swimsuit styles create different frictional forces with the slide. Swimsuits with high friction may not be able to pass over the high points of the slide, causing them to slide backward and get stuck, requiring rescue.

Preventive measures:

For tourists with different swimsuits, it is recommended to use slides with different undulations (some slides have no undulations).

Weight and height control is not strict, causing tourists to get stuck in the slides

Each slide has a designed weight range. Passengers who are too light or too heavy may not be able to pass the high points, causing them to slide backward and get stuck, requiring rescue.

Preventive measures:

Staff should effectively judge the weight of tourists. Tourists who do not meet the requirements should be guided to other activities without weight or height restrictions. Proper weight distribution among tourists on the platform should be ensured to guarantee a safe experience.

Insufficient release interval, causing tourists to be injured by collision

During peak hours, the increased reception pressure may cause employees to shorten the release interval to improve efficiency, leading to collisions between tourists in the drop-off area and causing injuries.

Preventive measures:

Equipment with signal indicator lights must strictly follow the red light prohibition and green light permission for operation.

For equipment without signal lights, observe whether each batch of tourists has left the slide area before releasing the next batch to prevent collisions and injuries.

Insufficient safety prevention of water treatment return water holes, causing tourist injuries

While the water park is in operation, water continuously returns to the purification system for disinfection and purification. Each pool wall and bottom has numerous return and outlet ports. In projects like the lazy river and wave pool, a large amount of water enters the work area through the return ports to create waves. The return ports have strong suction; if the protective measures fail or are damaged, body parts can easily be sucked in, causing injury.

Preventive measures:

Inspect the safety measures of the return ports daily and implement double protection if necessary.

Protective measures should use a recessed planar design to prevent protruding objects from scratching tourists.

Moss is not handled in time, causing tourists to slip and fall

Due to uneven slopes in some pool areas, some water escapes the purification system, easily breeding algae and moss over time. Slippery moss can cause tourists to fall and injure themselves.

Preventive Measures:

Conduct daily observations and assess the smoothness of the pool bottom, regularly clean with a high-pressure water gun, and regularly add water-soluble bactericidal agents to control algae growth.

Elderly people injured in the experience project

Older adults have decreased bone strength and weakened muscle protection of bones, and their hearts and other organs are more susceptible to the physical challenges of weightlessness and pressure during sliding, easily leading to injury.

Preventive measures:

When encountering elderly or frail individuals, reiterate the ride requirements and guide them to suitable attractions.

Precautions for receiving tourists in the falling pool to avoid complaints

After a tourist falls in a body slide, lifeguards should support the tourist's back or extend an arm for the tourist to grab to stand up. Directly catching the tourist from the front is strictly prohibited to avoid complaints.

Incorrect sliding posture, leading to injury

Incorrect sliding posture can lead to injuries to arms, toes, knees, or water inhalation.

Preventive measures:

Different slides require different sliding postures. Each slide displays the correct posture, generally keeping feet together, hands on the chest, or gripping handles. In body slides, pinch your nose to prevent water inhalation.

Many uncertainties exist regarding tourist injuries. Continuous optimization and adjustments based on medical room injury treatment and tourist feedback are necessary for gradual improvement.
