The Yaoxue Ice and Snow World project is located in Zone 101 of the main urban area of the Lingang New Area, an area dedicated to developing a high-quality tourism and residential area. The project is adjacent to Haichang Ocean Park and the Shanghai Astronomy Museum, covering an area of 111,174.9 square meters and with a total construction area of 344,364.99 square meters. The project is developed in two zones, south and north. The south zone includes apartment hotels and multi-functional halls, while the north zone includes an indoor ski resort, a water park, two five-star hotels, an ice rink, and various other businesses. Among them, the ski resort covers an area of 96,571.25 square meters, making it the world's largest indoor ski complex to date, and is scheduled to open on September 6th.

The project has six major "ice and snow +" features, constructing an "ice and snow + vacation" ecosystem, and wholeheartedly creating a one-stop ice and snow carnival that can be experienced without leaving Shanghai, exploring the infinite possibilities of ice and snow. As a project mainly based on an indoor ski resort, high energy consumption is inevitable. In addition to general green building measures, the project also features an ice storage system, a waste heat recovery system, a dehumidification heat pump system, a carbon dioxide refrigeration system, a new insulation system, and large-area rooftop solar photovoltaic panels, maximizing the reuse of energy. Energy-Saving Measures Adopted and Implemented by the Project



Project Introduction


Snow Park Rooftop Solar Photovoltaic Power Generation

The total area of the Snow Park roof is 40,755 square meters, of which the photovoltaic area reaches 33,100 square meters, with an installed capacity of 3327 kWp. The photovoltaic panels are installed on the metal roof, with horizontal plane radiation reaching 1386.2 kWh/㎡, and the grid voltage is 10 kV. The main equipment of the 10 kV grid-connected photovoltaic system includes photovoltaic modules, grid-connected inverters, step-up transformers, medium-voltage switchgear, and protection and control devices. It can also be equipped with data transmission systems, video surveillance systems, and weather stations as needed. During the 25-year operating period of the project, the average annual power generation is 3.4423 million kWh/year, with a cumulative power generation of 86.0563 million kWh in 25 years. The peak photovoltaic power generation can reach 2660 kWh/hour, and most of the electricity will be consumed within the park. After the project is operational, it will reduce the park's carbon emission indicators and contribute to the achievement of carbon neutrality.


Waste Heat Recovery System

A waste heat recovery system has been established in the ski resort. This system does not affect the operation of the refrigeration system or the demand for hot water, mainly operating in refrigeration mode, with a heat recovery side, taking into account the heat users, and the system is simple and easy to operate. The snow field requires heat for defrosting equipment such as snow machines, snow groomers, ice resurfacers, and ground pipes. In addition to the heat used by the snow field itself, the remaining waste heat can be recovered. The annual recoverable waste heat from the refrigeration process is 41,400 kWh per day. At the same time, a dehumidification heat pump system is used in the indoor water park, reducing the need for boiler configuration.


Carbon Dioxide Refrigeration System

The standard ice rink located on the first floor of the water park, which is also the commercial center, uses a new carbon dioxide refrigeration system design. Using carbon dioxide as a refrigerant, it does not harm the environment, is non-toxic, non-flammable, and inexpensive, and does not require recycling. In addition, carbon dioxide has a large boiling heat transfer coefficient, which can effectively reduce the heat exchange temperature difference and is not sensitive to pressure loss, representing a major trend in the global refrigeration industry. The power of the carbon dioxide pump used in the ice rink is only 5.5 kW, which is significantly less than the 74 kW of the water pump motor in conventional ice rinks.


Snow Park Uses Off-Peak Electricity to Store Ice at Night

The ice storage system mainly operates from May to October, utilizing the off-peak hours of summer electricity and the tiered electricity pricing policy of the power grid to store ice using idle refrigeration units at night in the Snow Park and release the cold during peak electricity hours. This device undertakes part of the air conditioning load during peak and off-peak periods and directly reduces the power configuration of the refrigeration unit. The project's ice storage system has a 27,000 kWh external ice melting and storage tank in the basement, saving approximately 578,000 yuan in electricity costs annually compared to conventional cooling systems.
