Recently, several "billion-level" new landmarks in Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Suzhou, and other places have been completed this year and are expected to be put into use next year. Let's take a look!

Shenzhen "Bay Area Eye"

"Bay Area Eye" is one of Shenzhen's major new cultural facilities, aiming to create a landmark cultural and tourism destination facing the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and radiating the Greater Bay Area. It will be fully completed and put into operation at the end of 2024 and in 2025, respectively.

"Bay Area Eye" is divided into north and south zones. The north zone plans four spaces: art garden, humanistic wonderland, boundless life, and youth art settlement; the south zone plans a 10,000-square-meter Bay Area folk museum, and two major spaces: Happy META and Bay Theater.

Based on the "1+4" and "Culture+" models, "Bay Area Eye" will use the "Culture+Park" approach to create a stroll-style, fully ecological cultural park, while gathering four major multi-theme integrated formats: "Culture+Technology", "Culture+Tourism", "Culture+Art", and "Culture+Creativity", bringing an ultimate cultural experience beyond traditional bookstores.

Zhuhai Hengqin's Hundreds of Millions of New Landmarks

Hengqin Citizens' Art Center
After four years and an investment of nearly 2 billion yuan, the Hengqin Cultural and Art Center project, which integrates a library, film and television city, youth activity center, art museum, etc., into a "nine-in-one" complex, has been completed.

The Hengqin Cultural and Art Center project was designed by internationally renowned young architect Xu Yunchao, constructed and managed by Gree Jian Tou, covers an area of approximately 40,200 square meters, has a total construction area of approximately 140,400 square meters, and has a total investment of 1.992 billion yuan. Adhering to the overall concept of "Hengqin Mountains and Waters, Bay Area Living Room", it is backed by Xiaohengqin Mountain to the north and faces Tianmu River to the south, with beautiful architectural curves echoing the symbiotic pattern of "green mountains and green waters".

The Hengqin Cultural and Art Center includes a book and document reading center (library, archives), an art activity center (youth activity center, women and children's activity center, senior activity center, small and medium-sized theater), and a cultural display center (multi-functional exhibition center, art museum). After completion, it will provide comprehensive cultural and artistic services to residents of Hengqin and Macao, and provide high-quality urban supporting facilities and public services for the construction of a new home that facilitates the lives and employment of Macao residents.

Tianmu Qintai
The Tianmu Qintai project is located on the central artificial island of Tianmu River in the Hengqin Guangdong-Macao Deep Cooperation Zone, invested and constructed by Daxingqin Real Estate. The total investment is nearly 4.9 billion yuan. The project has a total construction area of approximately 240,000 square meters and a total building height of 68.3 meters. It is an urban landmark complex integrating headquarters offices, conference exhibitions, boutique hotels, and experiential commerce.

The project integrates buildings, bridges, and islands as one. The exterior draws inspiration from the pipa and guqin, outlining the curved shape of the building. The overall shape is solemn and elegant, full of ancient charm. After completion, the project will help accelerate the construction of the Tianmu River tourism and leisure belt and contribute to the construction of Hengqin International Leisure Tourism Island.

Museum of Traditional Chinese Medicine Science and Creativity
The Museum of Traditional Chinese Medicine Science and Creativity is located at No. 1, Chonglou Road, Hengqin Guangdong-Macao Deep Cooperation Zone. The total construction area of the venue is approximately 30,000 square meters. It is the world's first large-scale immersive narrative experience museum on the theme of traditional Chinese medicine.

The Museum of Traditional Chinese Medicine Science and Creativity was creatively designed by Sir Richard Taylor. The architectural design is ingenious. Viewed from the side, it resembles a whale swimming in the water, while from above, it resembles a magnolia flower. Its architectural inspiration represents the three core values of growth, health, and balance, aiming to integrate people, buildings, and nature, showcasing the spirit and philosophy of traditional Chinese medicine.

The exhibition of the Museum of Traditional Chinese Medicine Science and Creativity is divided into four parts: the "Source", "Soul", "Spirit", and "Road" of traditional Chinese medicine. It interprets traditional Chinese medicine in the form of theme entertainment, using CG, sculptures, multimedia high technology, etc., to achieve "Chinese story, international interpretation", explaining the origin and mystery of traditional Chinese medicine to visitors.

Suzhou Lion Mountain Grand Theater

On August 31, the Suzhou Lion Mountain Grand Theater, designed by Pritzker Prize winner Kazuyo Sejima, made its debut under the night sky. The opening season performances were launched simultaneously, introducing top domestic and international performing arts resources to create a new cultural "name card" for the city.

The Suzhou Lion Mountain Grand Theater is located in the Lion Mountain Cultural Square, flowing and undulating between Tianshi Lake and Lion Mountain, complementing the natural landscape and having a unique humanistic geographical location.

The grand theater has a total construction area of over 40,000 square meters and has two functional spaces: a grand theater and a multi-functional hall. The grand theater has over 1,300 seats and adopts a traditional frame-style "pin"-shaped stage. The sliding anti-sound hood design allows the theater to be flexibly converted into a concert hall, with comprehensive performance conditions for large-scale symphonies, operas, operas, dance dramas, musicals, and dramas; the multi-functional hall can adjust seats as needed to meet the needs of various performances.

With the opening of the Suzhou Lion Mountain Grand Theater, the Lion Mountain Cultural Square once again ushered in a high-profile moment. It is about to be built into another urban humanistic landmark in Suzhou, adding new brilliance to the city's new central axis.

Hefei Art Museum

Located at the intersection of Huaining Road and Wanfo Lake Road, the main project of the Hefei Art Museum has been completed, and another urban cultural landmark has arrived!

As a major cultural and artistic landmark project in Hefei, the Hefei Art Museum is located in Anhui Provincial Museum Park, forming a central symmetrical layout with the Anhui Provincial Museum and the Anhui Geological Museum. The project has a total construction area of approximately 36,000 square meters, designed with two underground floors and four above-ground floors, with 10 exhibition halls inside. The main functions of the project include exhibitions, displays, training, collections, public education, public services, artistic research, and cultural exchanges.

The exterior of the venue is decorated with the city flower of Hefei, Osmanthus fragrans, as its creative prototype. Through the combination of pattern variations, a virtual and real gradient effect is formed, as if countless Osmanthus flowers are "blooming". The exterior uses UHPC, glass, copper louver scrolls, perforated aluminum plates, and other forms. The unique materials and design perfectly blend the dynamic curves and geometric shapes, showcasing a unique artistic charm in the changing light and shadow.

When light streams onto the perforated Osmanthus-shaped wall panels at different times of the day, the shadows of the Osmanthus are mottled and the light is overflowing. As night falls, the lights penetrate the walls, adding a touch of brilliance to the "Night Hefei".
