In a 13,000-square-meter community park, boulders, representing eternity and guardianship, are used as the core design elements of the garden and are naturally integrated with activity and experience functions. For example, boulders lying on the sand pit can be transformed into climbing and resting game devices; stones in shallow streams can become part of water play devices. The huge cave exploration space is creatively realized by the increasingly mature 3D-printed concrete technology.

Design Background

The Boulder Park is located in the Yunwan Garden of Vanke Xueshan City, Jinan, Shandong Province. It covers an area of approximately 13,000 square meters in the community center and is a comprehensive community park integrating children's play, shallow stream water play, parent-child companionship, and natural leisure. According to style characteristics and functional needs, it is generally divided into an all-age boulder playground, a water garden, a forest garden, a stone garden, and a flower garden. Among them, the children's activity area hosted by Xisui includes the all-age boulder playground, the water garden, and the forest garden.

Boulder Playground

In terms of participation and experience, the all-age boulder playground and forest garden integrate a variety of children's activity functions that are endlessly fun, such as swings, slides, sliding poles, trampolines, rocking horses, seesaws, turntables, drilling cylinders, speaking tubes, and climbing ropes, into the landscape area created by natural boulders and concrete caves. This helps children enjoy their outdoor time while exercising the strength of their upper and lower limbs and promoting the development of their brain's natural cognition and balance.

Water Playground

The water garden on the west side of the Boulder Park gently outlines a fun outdoor water play park that blends with nature, using a gently flowing shallow stream as a brush. The Xisui team, like craftsmen in a fairy tale, carefully carves details, customizing water play experiences for explorers of all ages:

All children are invited to play by the spring, feeling the delicate touch of the flowing water; older children can play by the playful jumping fountain and "explore" in the winding stream; the water turntable, with its rotating dance, attracts young children to enter a dream journey of water and wind; the water fetching device and the press water fetching device are like hidden puzzles, waiting for each little explorer to unlock, stimulating the desire to explore, and each success is a wonderful reward for childhood cooperation with water.

In this water park, games become keys that open children's doors to nature, making every step in the water and every laugh a precious memory of feeling the gentle power of water and experiencing equal coexistence with nature.

Core Device

Several of the most eye-catching participation devices in the venue are made using cutting-edge international construction technology—3D concrete printing. This is an advanced manufacturing method based on a digital model that forms a physical structure by layer-by-layer accumulation of materials. This technology uses a computer-controlled robotic arm to precisely extrude liquid or semi-solid concrete materials, which then quickly solidify, building layer by layer until the entire structure is completed. Its core lies in the close integration of digital design and materials science, giving the field of real-space design and construction unprecedented freedom and complexity. This process has a unique layered rock texture that blends with the texture of natural boulders and caves. At the same time, its advantages of one-piece molding of irregular curved surfaces improve the accuracy of the space and the smoothness of the experience.

One-Piece Molding

With the help of digitally controlled shape printing technology, complex irregular curved surfaces can be integrally formed. This not only significantly improves the accuracy of the shape and effectively avoids errors that are difficult to avoid in traditional processes, but also reduces reliance on manual skills, demonstrating the close integration of technology and art.

△ Main concrete device integrating three large slides and shade for rest

△ Toddler drilling and speaking tube

△ Several groups of concrete 3D-printed devices embedded in the site environment, forming the main visual outline

Layered Rock Canyon

The unique layered rock texture of the 3D printing process complements the surrounding natural stone landscape, meeting current functional needs while maintaining an atmosphere of exploration and wild fun. Children play among the "boulders," as if shuttling through real canyons.

Meanwhile, the subtle curved surfaces naturally give rise to bumps and slopes, forming elements such as steps, handrails, slides, and caregiver seats. This achieves a harmonious unity of functionality and device design.

△ Stratified rock texture creates a cave-like feel

Safe and Fun

Safety and fun are paramount in children's playgrounds. All landscape installations created through 3D printing have rounded, smooth edges without sharp corners, preventing potential bumps and injuries during play. At the same time, the cave scene is closely integrated with activities such as slides, tunnels, and speaking tubes, creating a wonderful unity of form and function between the garden environment and children's activities.

Tourism Industry Investment Special Survey

To gain a deeper understanding of the development of investment in the tourism industry, the China Tourism Academy, in conjunction with the China Amusement Machine and Amusement Park Association and other organizations, is conducting a special survey on investment in the tourism industry. All member units and tourism enterprises are invited to participate in the survey.
