The "China Night-time Economy Development Report (2024)" was recently released. Through research, the research team found that the night-time economy is igniting people's diverse consumption enthusiasm for a period of time with its unique charm, adding rich colors to residents' nightlife. Furthermore, against the backdrop of this year's consumption promotion year, various places have responded actively, driving the transformation and upgrading of consumption through innovation. The development of China's night-time economy has shown unprecedented vitality and innovation, bringing new economic growth points to cities and becoming an important engine for promoting consumption, optimizing the business environment, and driving employment.

Night tourism, from small to large and from point to area, has become an important part of the system for building internationally unique Chinese tourism destinations and is also an effective path to promote the deep integration of culture and tourism and the high-quality development of the tourism industry.

A special survey on the night-time economy conducted by the China Tourism Academy shows that, national 5A-level tourist attractions have increased their night opening rate from 23% in 2020 to 63% now, with a new batch of core night tourism attractions such as lighting landscapes, performing arts cruises, and homestay markets. Nearly 40% of national-level tourism resorts have developed and launched night tourism products such as festival performances, indoor leisure, and outdoor entertainment. More than 1/3 of national first-class museums have launched night tourism activities during the summer vacation.

Night outings and consumption scenarios are no longer limited to traditionally open tourist attractions at night, but have become a collection of fragmented elements, with more "smoky fire" atmosphere.

Night tourism is in a period of shifting demand growth, shifting from night sightseeing to multi-dimensional and in-depth experiences. This year, night tourism products are "in full bloom" The most significant features include: increasing emphasis on local culture, more night light health and micro-healing experiences; strong appeal of rural ancient town night tours; an increase in visible night cultural and art exhibitions; night entertainment venues and complexes are favored; night visits to parks, zoos, and botanical gardens are becoming popular; urban night walks are becoming a new trend; and an increase in night performances in public spaces. Night tours are becoming more oriented towards local life scenes, ranging from scenic spots and performance venues to leisure and entertainment venues, night markets, historical and cultural streets, and tourism and leisure streets. This year, tourists' favorite night leisure consumption venues are lively food night markets, themed markets, literary streets, cultural and creative parks, and fashionable shopping malls.
