Langya Ancient City—a nationally selected cultural tourism investment and financing recommended project, a key construction project in Shandong Province, and a key construction project in Linyi City. The project covers a planned area of 2037 mu, of which the cultural core area occupies approximately 600 mu, with a total construction area of approximately 700,000 square meters, and a planned total investment of 10.3 billion yuan. This project serves as the main venue for the 2024 Shandong Provincial Tourism Development Conference.

As the leading work of Shandong's cultural and tourism industry at the beginning of the year, Langya Ancient City will create a new cultural and tourism work of "Seven Dreams, Seven Searches" with the full city of Langya's splendor and a super immersive travel experience, laying out seven dreamlike scenes: Langya Secret Realm Area, Langya Prosperous Area, Yizhou Commercial Area, Yimeng Old Street Area, Classical Art Area, Yizhou Prefecture Office Area, and Ink and Wash Elegant Area, allowing tourists to step into a panoramic picture of 3,000 years of Linyi.

Through in-depth preliminary research and comprehensive consideration of economic feasibility and implementability in addressing the project's existing problems, a "retain, modify, and add" implementation strategy has been proposed. The lighting design scheme is themed "Returning to Yizhou Prefecture, Exploring Langya County." The overall plan involves segmented and zonal design, with an emphasis on the core area, and the effect gradually weakens from the inside out.
The lighting enhances the core north-south axis of the sightseeing landscape and enriches the east-west axis of the scenic area's artistic landscape. The south gate is primarily designed as an immersive entrance, while the east and west gates serve as auxiliary entrances. Through the brightness, color, and dynamic changes of the lighting, a comprehensive design improvement is implemented for different areas. The intelligent lighting control system meets the multi-scene switching needs of stage lighting in addition to controlling landscape lighting.
The lighting planning and improvement scheme combines the functional zoning of the scenic area's "Seven Dreams, Seven Searches": "Seven Searches"—searching for plays (three-dimensional immersive performances), searching for scenes (exploring the past and present of Langya), searching for fun (enjoying interactive fun), searching for flavors (tasting mountain delicacies), searching for costumes (changing into period costumes), searching for objects (purchasing local cultural and creative products), and searching for learning (engaging in interesting research studies). Travel through time, and have fun in Langya. Through research and analysis of the site's problems, the following strategies are implemented: retain—on-site investigation, checking each existing facility; modify—scheme optimization comprehensively considers economic feasibility and implementability, adding only control modules without changing the original distribution box circuit to achieve controllable on/off for single buildings; add—cross-border integration and communication with professionals to comprehensively combine sound, light, electricity, and performances; then, through on-site light testing, the optimal scheme is proposed; scene debugging, overnight debugging, presenting the optimal effect to tourists.
The large-scale indoor performance "National Show·Langya" uses the millennium history and culture of Linyi as its context. Utilizing multi-space three-dimensional real scenes and equipped with folding sky screen technology, it engages six senses—sight, smell, hearing, etc.—immersively placing the audience in the scene, from Dongyi culture to the prosperous Langya, savoring the artistic feast of "A farewell to Langya for a thousand years, a reunion in the prosperous Yizhou."
"National Show·Langya" is divided into six chapters, including "The Phoenix Comes to Yi" and "Gathering of Talented People." From the origin of Dongyi culture to the historical celebrities of Linyi throughout the ages, the six chapters unfold before the audience like six magnificent historical scrolls. In the "Gathering of Talented People" chapter, with the support of art and digital technology, an imaginative approach recreates historical anecdotes such as Liu Hong, the "Calculating Sage," observing the stars at night, and Zhuge Liang borrowing the east wind, creating a sense of traversing heaven and earth and soaring through the stars, allowing the audience to touch the brilliant historical scroll of Langya in a beautiful and magnificent atmosphere.

Langya Ancient City Scenic Area officially opened on February 10, 2024. In just four months of operation, Langya Ancient City has received a cumulative 950,000 tourists, and its comprehensive operating income has exceeded 100 million yuan. Both the number of tourists and the quality of reputation show a continuously upward and positive development trend. Langya Ancient City will next take the opportunity of establishing a national 4A-level scenic area to continue increasing publicity and promotion efforts, improve service facilities, enhance safety management, promote the continued popularity of the scenic area, and strive to achieve the annual goal of exceeding 1.6 million tourists and exceeding 250 million yuan in comprehensive revenue.
