The water quality of a water park is directly related to the physical and mental health and safety of tourists, as well as the sustainable operation and entertainment experience of the water park. So how to ensure the water quality safety of a water park? This article takes Alahai Water Park as an example to share how water parks ensure water quality safety and hygiene.





Project Overview





Alahai Water Park Alahai Water Park is the first water park complex in China under Zhejiang Alahai Culture Tourism Co., Ltd. It is located in Dameiwan New Town, Xiangshan County, Ningbo, with a total area of about 200,000 square meters and a maximum capacity of 18,000 people.


As a large water park, Alahai Water Park has strict standards in water treatment, and also has its unique methods.





About Water Treatment





For water parks, water safety is paramount, and the most intuitive demonstration of water quality is the test report issued by a professional institution.

In daily operation, Alahai Water Park has a complete, safe, and national standard-compliant water treatment process.

The water in the park is the same as the water in everyone's homes, all from municipal water supply. This water then enters the park's equipment room and becomes equipment water. Equipment water is not the water used for playing; this water needs to go through a series of testing and processing procedures before it can be used for playing.


Alahai Water Park mainly uses four dimensions to evaluate whether equipment water can be put into use.

1, Residual Chlorine Content


First, the residual chlorine content in the water (National standard: 0.3-1.0mg/L, Alahai standard: 0.5-0.8mg/L). Adding chlorine, as an effective means of sterilization and disinfection, is still used by more than 80% of water plants worldwide. Therefore, a certain amount of residual chlorine must be maintained in municipal tap water to ensure the safety of microbial indicators in drinking water. If the residual chlorine content is insufficient, the staff will use chlorine disinfectants, and after water circulation, ensure that the residual chlorine value is within the specified range, thus ensuring that the bacterial content does not exceed the standard. Only then will the equipment water be put into use.


2, Turbidity


Secondly, the turbidity of the water (National standard: ≤1NTU, Alahai standard: ≤0.8NTU). Turbidity refers to the content of colloidal substances suspended in water. If the content exceeds the standard, such as iron exceeding the standard, if it is groundwater, it will also turn the water tea-colored and have a fishy smell after reaching the ground. After testing, if the turbidity of the equipment water is too high, the staff will add flocculants to aggregate the colloidal substances together, and then remove these substances through circulation filtration, backwashing, and sludge removal. After the water quality test meets the standard, it will be put into use.


Small Knowledge: Flocculants are mainly groups with positive (negative) charges and some particles in water that are difficult to separate with negative (positive) charges or particles approach each other, reduce their potential, make them unstable, and use their polymerization properties to concentrate these particles, and separate them by physical or chemical methods.


3, PH value


The third standard is the PH value (National standard: 7.0-7.8, Alahai standard: 7.3-7.6). This is the acidity and alkalinity we often talk about. If the PH value is too high or too low, it will have a certain irritating effect on the skin. Therefore, when the PH value of the equipment water is abnormal, the staff will add a regulator to balance the acidity and alkalinity, and then fully mix it through water circulation to make the water reach the PH value range most suitable for human contact.


4, Urea Content


The last one is urea content (National standard: ≤3.5mg/L, Alahai standard: ≤2.5mg/L), which is also the most mentioned problem on the hot search. Urea exceeding the standard directly affects the water quality, and the water will turn green. Moreover, urea releases ammonia, which forms chloramine-like substances with chlorine disinfectants, making people easily feel disgusted, stimulating the skin and cornea, and corroding hair, etc. When the urea content in the test results is high, the staff will add special treatment agents or add new water to reduce the urea content to ensure water quality.

At the same time, there are dedicated and professional staff in the park who work around the clock to monitor, test, treat, and circulate all equipment water before putting it into use to ensure water quality safety and health.

Water Quality at a Glance


If the water quality is poor, it will have the following characteristics:

1, The water is not transparent, it is green, black, or white;

2, There are suspended matter, floating matter, and sediment in the water;

3, Bubbles on the water surface persist;

4, There are green algae and other substances on the bottom or walls of the pool.


The above phenomena are mostly caused by non-standard water treatment processes or improper use of chemicals.

Other health and safety measures





In addition to regular water quality safety monitoring, Ala's Sea Water Park also has a unique "secret recipe" to ensure the safety and health of the water quality—honeysuckle, chitosan, and sea salt. When these three substances collide, they produce a wonderful effect.


Honeysuckle and Sea Salt: Using natural sea salt from the East China Sea, chitosan, and honeysuckle for extraction and refinement, jointly developed with Harbin Institute of Technology and the marine biomedicine team “East China Sea Mystery” This is a product that combines natural and healthy ingredients with high technology. After this product dissolves in water, the water quality is more friendly to our skin.


So, what role do they play in our water health? What role do they play?


1、Chitosan


Chitosan is the only naturally occurring cationic polysaccharide in nature, known as the sixth life element of the human body. It can be widely used in food, health food, daily chemical products, disinfection and sterilization products, dressings, biomaterials and many other fields.


Small Tip: This is a substance extracted from the shells of fish, shrimp and shellfish, which can effectively protect our skin, keep it hydrated, and purify the water quality.


2、Sea Salt


Sea salt contains more than seventy trace elements, which are essential for a healthy life. It can help the cells in the body work better, while creating more beneficial substances, and it also has certain benefits for electrolyte balance. Sea salt contains beneficial antioxidants, as well as potassium, iron and copper. Minerals can help the body better regulate water, while balancing the body's acidity and alkalinity, and can also reduce various adverse reactions in the body.

3、Honeysuckle


Honeysuckle has always been a family essential medicine. It is sweet in nature and does not hurt the stomach. It can clear heat and detoxify, and it can also reduce inflammation and swelling. Honeysuckle has a sweet and slightly bitter taste, and has been praised as a good remedy for clearing heat and removing fire since ancient times. Soaking honeysuckle in the wave pool like tea further protects the human skin and reduces allergic reactions.

In addition to water safety in the equipment, Ala's Sea Water Park also has more health considerations. At the entrance of the Haiku Tianmeng Super Bathhouse, there is a large foot-washing pool and shower facilities. These waters contain some harmless bactericidal and disinfecting ingredients.

The park staff will tell each visitor to rinse briefly after entering the park, or use the shower facilities and foot-washing pool after changing clothes, and then enter the amusement facilities to ensure the health and safety of each visitor.





Pay attention to ultraviolet protection





When playing in an outdoor water park, you should also do sun protection, as ultraviolet rays can also damage the skin.


The damage of ultraviolet rays to the skin can be divided into two types: one is acute sunburn, including erythema, blisters, itching and burning sensation on exposed areas. Some people who play in the water park for a whole day or have relatively sensitive skin may experience these symptoms when they go home. If the symptoms are severe, they must seek medical attention. For relatively mild symptoms, do sun protection, and they can heal themselves.


The other is long-term chronic ultraviolet damage. If you don't pay attention to sun protection, it may cause this kind of chronic skin damage, which is called photoaging. Photoaging is mainly manifested as skin pigmentation, capillary expansion, wrinkles, thickening, relaxation and other signs of skin aging, and in severe cases, skin tumors may occur. These people must take protective measures to avoid more serious harm.
