Course Nine: Strategies for Increasing Secondary Consumption in Water Parks

Course Outline:

About Secondary Consumption in Water Parks

Characteristics of Secondary Consumption in Water Parks

Differences in Timing for Promoting Secondary Consumption in Water Parks

Methods for Selecting Secondary Consumption Goods in Water Parks

Course Highlights:

This training will analyze the differences in secondary consumption behavior between water parks and ordinary theme parks from the perspective of tourists, and discuss how to effectively increase secondary consumption in water parks through shop operation and product configuration. The training will use Japanese water park cases as the core explanation.

In the "Characteristics of Secondary Consumption in Water Parks" section, Mr. Nagano will introduce the important characteristics of rental income in water parks. Compared with waterless theme parks, water parks significantly increase their revenue through "rental services." Ordinary theme parks have a larger proportion of catering and merchandise sales, while water parks can generate considerable revenue from rental businesses. Ignoring this aspect will directly affect overall revenue.

In the "Differences in Timing for Promoting Secondary Consumption in Water Parks" section, the essential differences in the consumption timing of tourists in ordinary theme parks and water parks will be introduced. Ordinary theme parks increase consumption by extending the time spent in the store, while water parks win at the moment customers pass by the shops. Ordinary theme parks usually adopt strategies to attract customers to stay in the shops for a long time to promote consumption. However, water park customers generally urgently want to experience water projects as soon as possible, and forcibly extending their stay time is limited. The key is to let customers quickly perceive their needs.

In the "Methods for Selecting Secondary Consumption Goods in Water Parks" section, it will be introduced that the strategy of secondary consumption goods in water parks must start from the psychology of tourists, focusing not on "letting tourists choose freely," but on shaping the perception of "this is very practical/must-buy." Product layout needs to achieve immediate decision-making: requiring product displays to have a strong visual impact. In addition, it is necessary to achieve product combinations designed with "water scenes" as the core: focusing on recommending practical products that can evoke the association of "this will definitely be useful when playing by the water."
